Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon

sample/this could deserve a perfect rating, everything I'd want a bourbon to be, price point is a little steep. 2nd sample/holding on 4 * rating yet still outstanding. Perfect finish.

The first bottle I had of this a year or so ago was delicious. Lots of complex spices, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, it felt like drinking Christmas. The second bottle I had last night was a big disappointment. All I got from it was alcohol heat and oak. It was a store select barrel promotion, so maybe that was the problem. Or, it’s just inconsistencies with the single barrel concept. Either way I’d be hesitant to buy again.
