Sagamore Spirit 8 Year Straight Rye is a limited edition release under the Maryland distillery's Reserve Series. Aged for 8 years in new, charred American oak barrels, this is bottled at 111.4 proof.
There was a previous 8 year-old rye released by the brand back in 2021, but that bottling was only available in select markets and at the distillery. This version has a wider availability which includes the brand's entire domestic footprint. Available March 2023.

But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"The rye has a hint of caramel, but there's also some tobacco and violet flowers in there as well. The rye grain itself is fairly pronounced both on the nose and the taste. The whiskey is peppery and spice driven with those floral notes still in the mix, but that's a minor note here. The finish has a decent length to it and would say it's more full and spicy, but not rough and tannic. For those that like savory, hearty whiskeys, this should be right up your alley."
