Sagamore Spirit 'Sagamore Reserve' Double Oak Rye (2017 Limited Edition Release)

Nose is tight light aroma of oak and honey. The color in this is fantastic brown leather like a well warn bomber jacket. On the second sip this packs some heat not that is high proof but heat from the heavy char and big red gum flavors. Just as the char (not smoke) rolls across your tongue you get spice notes of nutmeg and cinnamon turning to toasted pine nuts with hints of vanilla. This is clearly an oak bomb!

Not much on the aroma besides grain. But the flavor takes off. Spicy and woody. So much oak. Maybe more than double. Really good.

Much oak, such wow. Just on the right side of hot for me.

Batch: 4C Bottle: 1662 Nose: Very fragrant. Caramel and oak. Campfire marshmallow. Pecan and honeycrisp apple. Palate: Medium light palate. Caramel, maple syrupy sweetness backed by oak spice. Some citrus too, lime juice. Finish: Medium short finish. Drying oak and citrus. Overall the nose of this whiskey is beautiful, just wish the palate had more juice to it.

Smooth and sweet notes.
