Somerset Cider Brandy 20 Year
Somerset Cider Brandy Co. // Somerset, England
This 20 year-old brandy was released annually on Apple Day in October with one barrel being bottled each year. 2015 marked the last year for the 20-year release. Cider is produced at the farm from September until Christmas while they reserve distilling for the month of April, before it gets too hot. The cider brandy (also known as apple brandy) is bottled at 42% ABV after aging in small oak barrels. This review was taken from the 2012 bottling. Note: This is sold in 500ml sized bottles.
Other BrandyBrandy distilled from any type of fruit-based wine produced anywhere in the world. Not referring to any of the designated or protected areas such as Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados, etc.

"Quite a bit of woody aromas coupled with candied apple come through on the initial nosing of this brandy. A touch of licorice and dried herbs are present as well. The brandy is moderately full, and despite the heavy woody aromas is not tannic but is quite smooth. The fruit flavors take a back seat here as baking spices take center stage. This 20 year-old brandy is not ultra-complex, but makes a nice sipper, particularly for those that want a brandy that isn't overtly sweet and fruity."
