"The nose is initially dominated by alcohol, sweetness and a whiff of toasty wood; it's not especially forthcoming. But the palate gets over this shyness quickly with nuanced and complex flavors of vanilla, nougat, burnt sugar, and black pepper--all ballasted by wood but not dominated by it. The finish ties it all up nicely with a satin ribbon."
