Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey
American Single Malt
Stranahan's // Colorado, USA
The brainchild of Jess Graber and George Stranahan after a barn fire on Stranahan's property this 4 barley whiskey was the first to be micro-distilled in Colorado. Jess still works with the brand and George has since moved his Flying Dog Brewery to Maryland. This American Single Malt is made from 100% barley, which for this category is not yet required.
American Single MaltMade in the USA from 100% malted barley. Distilled at one distillery. Matured in oak casks no larger than 700L. Distilled to no higher than 160 proof (80% ABV). Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) or higher. (This is the proposed Standard of Identity by the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission.)
Cask Typenew American oak
"Nose is astringent like a young rye. Palate is full of grain, oak and some vanilla pudding. Finish is quick to moderate with the vanilla and oak blending together. A quite unique juice which provides a nice alternative to bourbon or Tennessee whiskey."
