The Glenrothes 1985 2nd Edition
The Glenrothes // Speyside, Scotland
Glenrothes put this whisky in the barrel in 1985 and originally bottled it in 1997 as a 12-year-old. Then they decided to see what another 8 years would do. So they let what remained sit until May of 2005, which makes this second release a 20 year-old whisky.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
"Rich, sweet, and fruity on the nose, full of caramel, malt, buttery cinnamon toast, pears, and cream. The taste sticks with what the nose suggests then adds oak, chocolate, and orange zest to the mix. The long finish drifts dreamily from oak spice and chocolate-orange sweetness. "
