The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve

A bit disappointing, thin

Bourbon barels are well represented. Corn and caramel, touch of orange and leather. Nice bittersweet finish!

Good average scotch. Getting a hair of apple and spice on the nose. Palate is classic Speyside. Smooth and lower proof. Can’t be mad, but not overly excited.

Tastes like vodka pretending to be bourbon. Better just getting bourbon honestly.

Smooth, oily and sweet/spicy

I rate this a 3.75, but it's my go-to at least once a month (which means I probably should rate it a hair higher). For a "value" single malt Speyside, I love to keep coming back. The bottle suggests vanilla and pears, and I couldn't agree more. Moreover, I've never had a Scotch where pear and vanilla were so perfectly paired and so forward on the profile.

A little light at 80 proof.

Very heavy coconut off the hop, with a weak finish.
