Macallan Double Cask 30 Year
Single Malt
The Macallan // Highlands, Scotland
This rare expression joins the distillery's Double Cask range. It is aged in a combination of European oak from northern Spain and southern France, as well as new oak from Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky that is transported to Spain. Both types of wood were transformed into casks and toasted over an open-air fire in the cooperages of Jerez before being filled with sherry and left to season for up to 18 months. Once seasoned, the casks were brought to The Macallan Estate in Speyside and filled with new-make spirit.
After years of aging, the best from both casks was selected for Double Cask. The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old is then matured for 30 years in the sherry seasoned American and European oak casks. It is bottled at 43% ABV and available in limited quantities globally as of September, 2021. .
