Launched in 2015, this gin honors the legacy of Thomas Dakin, who began distilling gin in Warrington, England during the 1760s. Based along a major trade route between the industrial cities of Liverpool and Manchester, Dakin wanted to create a gin that would please both wealthy residents and travelers. Dakin's efforts greatly improved the reputation of gin after decades of being blamed the ills of society and as a result, he is often regarded as the forefather of high-quality English gin.
This gin begins with a British neutral grain spirit which is infused with 11 botanicals for several hours. While the complete botanical recipe remains a company secret, it does include juniper, coriander seeds, orange peel, fresh grapefruit, cubebs, liquorice root, angelica and red cole. After a single distillation, the gin is bottled at 40% ABV.
