Reviewed June 30, 2020This has only 2% higher ABV than Van Meer's Chocolate (imitation) does. If Van Meer's tastes like Nesquik, this tastes like a bunch of chocolate chips melted into some alcohol. This tastes a bit more convincingly like chocolate, but it also tastes a bit more like grain alcohol with a bit of rye. It smells a bit like vodka too, whereas Van Meer's smells more like sweet chocolate. The flavor has more of a rich, genuine chocolate flavor than Van Meer's does, but it also Tate's more like grain (rye) alcohol. It's probably a slight impressive, bur it's disappointingly only a slight one. It's surprising how much darker and slightly greener this looks than Van Meer's Chocolate does. It smells sweetly chocolatey, but in a subdued fashion with earthy and slightly vegetal notes. It's very rich and creamy, much more so than Van Meer's. There's an odd bitterness and spiciness though. Something tastes a bit sour. I appreciate its attempts to be an authentic chocolate liqueur, but it doesn't quite succeed on the palate. The finish does become more chocolatey with and added sweet rich was, but it also has hints of those vegetal notes (presumable from the vodka). Tolon Tolon Chocolate isn't without merit, but it is odd and in need of some assistance to make its alien body fit into its human skin.17.0 USD per Bottle
