This is a great sipper. Pallet follows the nose. Good, solid bourbon for the money. Stands up to the 1856 in my opinion. I’ll buy again. You should too.
Nose: Peanuts, vanilla, maple syrup
Palate: Vanilla up front transitioning into
Finish: Medium finish with baking spices, peanuts, and a warm linger
There’s a little sweet, a little spicy, overall a nice, simple, easy sipper. Reminiscent of Jack Daniel’s which is very appropriate if you are aware of the history of this brand.
I'm not getting a whole lot on the nose. Some leather and oak(?), but not much else. The palate, on the other hand, is spicy-sweet with a whole lotta peanuttiness. I like peanuts!
This is good whiskey. I just had some Uncle Nearest Straight Rye and, coming from a Bourbon drinker, I have to give the nod to the Rye. I'll buy the Rye again before this. But make no mistake... this is good, and worth a purchase.
7/2/22 - Very smooth, easy drinker. Carmel and vanilla up front, short lived finish. Shared with the camping gang on our July 4th trip to McCormicks Creek State Park.
