Volans Reposado Tequila

An elegant Agave Spirit by El Pandillo Distillery (NOM 1579) in Jalisco (Los Altos Southern), Mexico crafted with oven, 2x distilled with a copper pot still, rested in ex-Bourbon barrels, before being bottled additive free at 40% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of cooked agave, wood, earth, fruits, flowers, nuts, herbs & spices; while a bold life adds notes of caramel, vanilla, honeydew melon, celery, anise, lemongrass & sage; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of toasted oak, mushrooms, black tea, sea spray, black pepper & cardamon.

NEAT NOSE - Cooked agave, faint caramel and vanilla PALATE - Smooth mouthfeel with no burn. The agave note is the most prominent and the caramel and vanilla notes are there, but easily missed. FINISH - Essentially no finish to speak of, but it goes down effortlessly. BUY? - Yes. BUY AGAIN?? - Yes. I’m just now getting into tequila so there is so much to try. While I won’t replace this bottle immediately after finishing, I do think it is worthy of restocking.
