Using only Tequila Valley (Lowlands) agave, the production was overseen by master distiller Anna María Romero Mena. The tequila is made from a blend of añejo tequila which ages in former whisky casks and extra añejo tequila which was aged in former cognac barrels. After aging, the liquid remains separated while the color is removed.
Before blending, the añejo and extra añejo tequilas are finished with a cask wash in the barrel they were aged in. Meaning "land of the volcano", this tequila is a joint venture between Moët Hennessy and the Gallardo family. Released May 2017 in select US markets.

Tequila AñejoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least a year in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, but ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Añejo tequilas are also known as "aged" or "extra aged".

Tasting Notes
"A crystal clear pour betrays the fact that this tequila shows quite a bit of oak influence in a nose filled with notes of caramel candy, toasted vanilla bean, and a touch of spicy pepper-toned agave. In the mouth there is a tone of cognac-laced fruit reminiscent of baked plum and creamy milk chocolate which dissipates into another spicy kick of pepper and a hint of salted lemon."
