Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Red Cask Whisky

First taste. Nose is mellow, floral and fruity. Palate is mostly reminiscent of rubber.

This whisky has some very rum-like qualities and flavours. Nose: Brown sugar and vanilla. Palate: Butterscotch turning into salted caramel mid-palate with a touch of maple syrup. Finish is a bit hot, short to medium length with a lingering taste of brown sugar.

Fin: Short flat finish of a cardboard box printed with colored ink. Taste: Mellow mallow. Candied candy. Breaded maple char. Honey nutmeg. Communion water. Aroma: Butterscotch nut butter. Ripe banana and guava. Cupcake. Maple vanellin.

It has a great aroma but the moment the whiskey slithers down your throat you feel cheated. There's no lingering taste and no finish. I could not tell you the notes I felt because I felt them for half a second then all is gone. For its price point there's so many better whiskeys out there.

Disappointed. A bit of sweet vanilla and fruits but nothing terribly complex. But that finish is non existent and uninspiring.

The red wine shines through in this adding a nice fruit/sweet profile to this. If you can find it, it's worth a pick up if you're both a fan of red wine and whisky
