Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon

This has grown on me. Lots of pepper on the nose, then burnt sugar comes in quickly. A little cinnamon heat but again overcome by sweetness

On the nose: all the usual suspects of bourbon; cherry, vanilla sweet like caramel and candy floss, a very slightly smokey wood and something fresh like mint or eucalyptus. Also a slight waxyness. Nice. Taste: thick oily palate, strawberry sweets sweetness, vanilla and cherry again but also orange rind and a bitter pear. Plus an obligatory proof punch! Finish, the taste fades away to leave nothing but the coolness of your breath on your freshly burned throat.

Probably the best bang for the buck available for a barrel proof. Deep flavors and viscous mouth feel.

Vanilla on the nose. Lemon zest on the tip of the tongue. Brown sugar finish with the heat that lets you know this ain’t 80 proof, but is smoother than 116.

So rich and full it almost makes you want nothing else again. Red fruit, dried tobacco, brown sugar, hay barn... and insane smoothness.

Vanilla and cinnamon spice with a bit of heat brought on by the 116.8 proof. Charred oak and caramel. Excellent value considering it is a barrel proof bourbon whiskey for less than $50.
