Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon

This pour is downright delicious! At 58.4 ABV, it’s right in my sweet spot and this definitely does not disappoint. It’s got a complex vanilla forward nose that makes it hard to put it down and the palate just continues on with more oak and char. I am struggling to find any negatives at all. The finish is nice and long with a slight drying note at the very end. One of my favorites.

Beautiful, perfect amber color. Just so pleasing to look at. I would say the nose is a little musty rather than funky, as I’ve heard others attribute to the brand, but definitely something particular. Robust and dense in a great way, the mustiness shows up again in the mouth. I have a hunch that can be attributed to the 12% malted barley in the mash bill because it reminds me ever so slightly (and I mean slightly) of a nice single malt scotch. I dunno, call me crazy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The proof shows up quick on the finish, then settles into a nice long warm and calming hug. This one is such a great value for the price and availability.
