Spiced cookies and butter on the nose. Palate is hot and has a cherry and cinnamon thing going on. There’s some bitterness on the finish. This may be more complex than the 101 but to me the 101 is more cohesive. I don’t think this is worth the extra money. A little water bring out a buttery note. Even with a good amount of water that heat is intense.

Nose is bitter and astringent, but not in a bad way. Sugary notes there. Body hits with vanilla and honey. Finish lingers for just a few seconds with a pleasant cinnamon buzz. Though pretty basic, this is a solid and affordable bourbon for the ABV. Big fan.
Pleasant sweet smell. Familiar but I can’t place it. Spicy vanilla flavor upfront with noticeable heat. More like a creme brûlée torched sugary top taste that overtakes the vanilla. Just great.
Gets better and better as you work your way through the bottle. Laser code LL/GH indicates this is among the 2018 bottlings, stated to contain older whiskey than previous years’ batches. I don’t have a frame of reference on how those previous batches tasted, but this one is damn good.
No distinct nose or flavors until the oak stands up on the finish. Surprisingly smooth for the proof. I'm not a big WT fan, lots of sour/bitter oak for me, but this is the best WT offering I've tried (Russell's Reserves included). I'll circle back when the bottle gets more air.
