Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)

Warm, caramelly cherry nose. Heat and flavor rush up front then mellows slowly and surely to let you pick apart the layers. An interesting licorice note (Usually not a fan, good here) in the middle. Sweet edges with vanilla and cherry rounding it out.

Almost no nose. It’s allegedly a sweet mash, but tastes kind of like a “fancy” Jack D sour mash. Not what I was expecting. Not something I’d recommend to a friend.

This got better and better once it was opened

Smell: Cherry nail polish remover. Coats your tongue, but sits on the back longer. Mellow-ish finish.

Nose: unique. Earthy, almost peaty. Do I get a hint of citrus? Behind it is a fantastic oak note Taste: not particularly sweet or hot, which are areas where I’m more comfortable. What remains is nuanced, for sure. On the thinner side in terms of texture, but deep and earthy. I’ll be honest, I’m undecided about whether I like it. Would love to see what this is like uncut.
