Wilderness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)

Excellent wheated whiskey. Great price point for a barrel strength wheater. Caramel, honey & grass on the pallet.

unique flavor. i can see how it’s enjoyed by many, but not really for me.

Schneider’s single barrel. Strong (it is barrel proof) but the flavors are nice. Smoothed cedar with vanilla. Generally a fan of wheated mash bills, but at this strength perhaps a little more rye could better harmonize the proof with the grain

Hops and Scotch Vinery pick 5 years old 116 proof Nose: cherry coke, fresh baked wheat rolls Palate: vanilla, brown sugar, flat coke, raisins Finish: very short citrus finish of lemongrass, lime zest, raisins, and a hint of pear Overall a very simple but refreshing dram, very different than my usual flavor profile I gravitate towards but fun!
