Willett Family Estate Bottled 3 Year Straight Rye
Rye
Willett Distilling Company // Kentucky, USA
A blend of a barely legal 51% rye mash bill and a 74% rye mash bill, the Three Year Estate Bottled Straight Rye Whiskey from Willett is the product of the distillery on the actual estate. Willett's parent company, Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, has been sourcing and bottling whiskies since the mid-1980s, bottling them under a series of well-respected labels (Rowan's Creek, Noah's Mill, among others).
The company decided to resume production of it's own distillate in the early-2010s, and this is the second, slightly older batch of Willett's rye whiskey. Bottled at 54.

RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.
