Yamazaki Puncheon 2013
Single Malt
Yamazaki // Japan
This no-age-statement single malt from Yamazaki was bottled in 2013. It was part of the Yamazaki Cask Collection highlighting four cask types used at the distillery's cooperage: bourbon, sherry, mizunara, and puncheon.
The puncheon is a larger type of barrel made from American oak that can hold significantly more liquid. 2013 was the final year of the series.

Tasting Notes
"The American oak brings sweetness, with aromas of thick honey and creamy vanilla. Gentle fruit notes of banana and peach hide beneath. On the palate, pineapple and coconut join the aforementioned fruit as the smooth honey and vanilla sweetness remains everpresent. The medium finish is, as expected, sweet and fruity."
