I broke down and bought a bottle. I’ve been meaning to anyhow.
Hue: .5 — I remember HP12 being redder and darker, then again I was in a dark room. Maybe I had a 15. I wish it were darker.
Nose: 1 — Amazing nose. Twizzlers. Sweet. Malty. Just beautiful. One of my favorites.
Taste: .75 — Ever so slightly pinched. Harmed by a splash o’ water. Don’t ever water HP12. It’s 43% as it is. No need (PS... do what you want don’t listen to me. Water highlighted some tannins that I didn’t notice while neat.)
Finish: 1 — Oddly better on the back end. Smokey paper, tobacco, some mushy fruit I can’t place. Plum? Persimmon?
Overall: 1 — A very good compliment to any collection. If you want to toughen up your palate without blowing out your olfactory/taste buds, this is an enjoyable set of training wheels. Also a great intro to peated malt scotches. Not intimidating. Easy to drink and enjoy. A good way to end the day.
Hey @adamn, I just realized we can @ mention each other. I’m going to address all my future tastes to you.
