Sweet oak. Brown sugar. Slightly bitter. The nose promises a bit more than the palate & finish can deliver. I imagine some folks might be turned off by the amount of oak, and I wouldn't want to drink this all the time, but it's a pretty nice showcase of an old bourbon.

@PBMichiganWolverine, It was $305 shipped from SCN and I imagine $800 is only the beginning given the market which is nothing if not silly.
@doneeb wait...seriously? $800??! That’s BTAC territory pricing. At most, I thought $200...but beyond that is silly
@PBMichiganWolverine, Definitely unique and fun to try but not worth the $800 or whatever it's already going for on the secondary.
@doneeb @ContemplativeFox i can imagine not many of the pre-fire are out in circulation, not to mention the added rarity of the age and Scotland maturity
@ContemplativeFox, I remember hearing about Maker's sending their bourbon across to Scotland to see how it aged there, but I don't think it was ever released. No other experiments like this come to mind, either.
@PBMichiganWolverine, Heaven Hill burnt down in 1996; Beam and Brown-Foreman contract distilled for them before they bought and started distilling in their current Bernheim distillery. Pre-fire is anything distilled before that and they have pretty different profile from the Beam/BF/Bernheim distillate.
Very interesting that someone aged a bourbon in Scotland. I don't think I've seen that before.
This is also Heaven Hill pre-fire ...not sure what that means though
That aging in Scotland must’ve also prevented it from being too oaky
