Nose is malty cereal, salt, ash, chocolate almond. Sometimes it comes across savory and great and other nights it's flat and sour, no idea why. On the palate it's sweet, savory, salty, and even a little sour. Malt and cereal notes throughout just like Bruichladdich. The peat shines through as salty and savory smoke and lasts into the finish that is long and savory smoke. Water improves it significantly. The nose turns much more briny and the palate has a ton more salty sweet notes. It also makes the finish more interesting. A great Islay for the price and it's fun to explore. I've noticed that on nights that I use this as a follow-up to other peaty Whisky it's got a ton more to find.
