Bonus time hit, so I figured this was how I would treat myself this year. By far the most expensive scotch I’ve bought on my own and am very excited to give it a go.
Nose - Fruity, cherry, mulling spices, caramel, vanilla extract.
Taste - Might be a bit full for my pallet. The box claims cherries, ginger, and dark chocolate which I get none of. I definitely get the sherry cask, but other than that it’s hard to differentiate from other scotches I’ve had.
Finish - Tingles the tip of the tongue. Smooth. The burn lasts on your tongue, but in a good way. Belly is warm.
I’m a fan, but will be very interested to revisit this later when I know more of what I’m doing.

@SpartanDL27. I look forward to reading it....I think you will find out is a completely different whisky.... there is a dilution calculator on this website https://www.essentialdistilling.com/resources/alcohol-dilution-and-proofing-calculator or you can just add little bits as mentioned previously. That's the nice thing about a cask strength whisky though is that you get to choose what proof you drink it at!
@robwalker and @cascode - Going to give that a try today and post a new review. Appreciate the advice!
Seconding @robwalker with the water suggestion. Most cask strength malts need dilution to open up. Start with a teaspoon of water to an ounce of whisky and keep adding by the teaspoon if necessary until you hit the sweet spot.
Did you add water to this one? if not, you may want to consider trying it at 47-48% ABV. That may make your palate a little less overwhelmed by the heat of it! Great choice though!
Impressed you already jumped into this bottle so early in your journey. Took me about 100 bottle reviews before I picked this up. You are right tho, give yourself some time to explore a bunch more and you will come to appreciate this more I’m sure. Come to think of it I should probably review it too.
