Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
Distilled Gin — British Columbia, Canada

Bought this because my daughter kept messaging me cocktail pics about how cool this looks and "supposedly" is really good. I'm not impressed. Taste is unrefined and finish is flat alcohol. I get it's supposed to be a London dry style. I've had local craft gins that blow this away, for example Gray Wolf Timber gin. You're going to want to mix this into a fancy looking cocktail for your unsophisticated guests.

Were you just drinking straight gin? Why not try it in a “fancy looking cocktail”? I have a very discriminating palate and found Empress to be lovely—I might suggest serving it in a highball or Collins glass, on the rocks, over Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic and garnished with a grapefruit slice.
