The nose of the whiskey is complex and fruity. It leads with the sweet raisins of the madeira cask before transitioning to the cherry of the port with undertones of smoke and spice from the spirit itself. There is just the barest hint of dark molasses as well. On the tongue, the rye comes through with a full-bodied, rich spice. Here the influences of the various casks bloom into their full glory. Once again there is a smokey and woody quality imbued by the various barrels. There is a sweet hint of sweet cherry with an overtone of stone fruit. It finishes with raisin and smoke. There is a delightful cinnamon and allspice flavor throughout with a hint of burnt sugar. It settles into a warm glow in the chest and throat.
