Really great whiskey. All the things I love about Balcones, plus wonderful peat. It's not a peat bomb, but it's there, and it feels well-integrated into the experience, not just an afterthought or gimmick. First taste was neat and I found it to be quite hot. It takes a fair amount of water well without losing anything for me. I appreciate the high proof and that I can add some water to stretch it out a little, but I'd also like to see a lower proof, cheaper peated single malt (like Lineage is to the regular single malt).

@soonershrink that’s a good point. And it just occurred to me—-Westland uses American peat from WA state. Then again, those guys are even pricier ...so shoots our theory down a bit
@PBMichiganWolverine I imagine there are even peat bogs in Texas with all of the swampland in SE Texas.
@Ctrexman @soonershrink i thought US also has peat bogs ( after all—-we had ancient organic material that’s now eons dead). Would be cheaper to go domestic
@Ctrexman
I see it for low 70s but if they cut it down as you said price could drop to the 50s
@Ctrexman I imagine it's costly to bring in peated barley from across the pond to make this, but at 80 bucks, this is special occasion whiskey for me. However, a 47% ABV version at say 50$ would be a fixture in my rotation.
"I'd also like to see a lower proof, cheaper peated single malt (like Lineage is to the regular single malt)."...Great idea
