Another lovely, no-frills, old-school bottle. Priced right and widely available, this is worth a try at least once. It pours a light golden color with medium legs, not unexpected for the age and proof of a bottom shelf BiB. The nose is not robust per se but there are very pleasant notes of cherry, oak, pecans and faint ethanol. It comes across the palate feeling thin but again pleasant with balanced cinnamon, pear, banana, vanilla and bubble gum. The finish is gone in an instant but not unpleasant.
This hangs below WT 101, EW BiB and for a few more dollars EC small batch (but definitely above the likes of JW Dant, Jim Beam white label and light years beyond Kentucky Tavern and Kentucky Gentleman). If you are rotating mixers and appreciate the likes of EW BiB and WT 101 I would highly recommend bring this home at least once.

@BDanner That's good to hear. I have been concerned that JTSB might go the way of Heaven hill white label a few years ago
@ghill40509 they are giving this a little wider distribution. Now available in NC.
@drinkbourbonjk there is fierce competition at that range and it almost comes down to mood. Elijah Craig will probably always be #1 for be because of how well the wood/fruit/spice hold up neat or in cocktails. OF 86/100 are both fantastic and a bit sweeter to me. Oddly OF 100 and WT 101 don’t seem to hold up as well as EC in cocktails but I’d gladly drink any of the 3 neat or on ice. As an aside, Redemption high rye (MGP) and Bardstown BiB (Willett) are also gems in that price range.
I like old forester 100 as my Favorite in the $22-25 range. Just slightly more than 101. Ur opinion?
Nice review and oh so true. Available only in Ky so I take a case to my son in Florida when I visit.
