Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 07 May 2021).
Nose: Oak, peat, TCP/medicinal, chocolate, caramelised brown sugar, vanilla
Palate: Berries, sweet red fruit, oak, vanilla, peat smoke, citrus, dried figs/dates
Finish: Medium long finish. Coconut, salt, earthy. Slightly drying. Very sweet aftertaste
This is a lovely, sweet, smoky dram. BBQ & wood smoke, with a very light, smooth overall sensation. Very easy to drink for such a heavily peated dram.
2 parcels of spirits distilled in November 2011:
Parcel 1: 6yrs in 1st fill ex-American Whiskey Casks, then 2yrs in 1st fill casks which had previously held red wine from the Pauillac region in France.
Parcel 2: 7yrs maturation in 1st fill ex-American Whiskey Casks, then 2nd fill casks which had previously held red wine from the Pauillac region in France.
Came third out of the six drams, with 7% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 57% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky.

@icsteel154 I do enjoy that combination and I really enjoyed the MRC from port Charlotte so I had been on the lookout for these. They are $140 each (750ml) so would be an expensive trip if I wanted to get both but I may bite the bullet anyway because finding these special editions from them is difficult. Thanks so much for your input!
@Bergkampgunner Both are very good whiskies. I slightly preferred the OLC over the PAC, but there was very little in it. The OLC is a little more fruit jam, which is wonderfully layered with the peat. If you enjoy the combination of fruit and peat, you’ll enjoy either of them.
Hey...thanks for the review! I haven’t been keeping up with mine and need to get back to it. I see that you’ve had this and the OLC. Would you say one is much better than the other? I’ve found a place in The States that has them both for $140 and I’m considering one or both? I have way more oloroso experience than Paulliac so was leaning that way just because it’s different but I would love the thoughts of someone who has had both of these expressions. Thanks very much in advance!
