It’s not one of my favorites. I’m not the biggest fan of blended whiskey in general. On top of that this has a metallic plus bitter finish I’m not the biggest fan of either. Also the strong musty floral nose with the ethanol smell kind of took me by surprise on my first dram, and I didn’t like it at all. But once I let it settled in the malty sweetness and a medicinal herbal note made it more pleasant to consume. I need to explore it more with ice and maybe adding a little bit of water next time. Still not giving up hope on Japanese whisky. P.S. after a long break I’ve tried the Hibiki again and I found it to be very pleasant, specially on the nose. The floral and caramel notes are lovely. Also this sweet fresh citrusy note is hidden in the back I really loved. It still doesn’t deliver on the palate. Light body, and flat almost lightly sweeten water like texture doesn’t help my enjoyment. I’d rather nose this whisky than drink it.
