I haven't had this yet and probably won't since my guess and based on reactions is this one isn't close to 21-01. That bottle is fantastic. What I am here to say is, I belive Bookers as a brand needs a revamp. Not so much in packaging but in batching and distribution. The main reason I stay away from Bookers most of the time is I love when things are complete. I can't keep up with all these releases. I think they need a spring and fall release and just have more of it. That way there is more time to get it right. Even if that means the distribution of Bookers is suspended for 2 years. Let those stocks age make Bookers at least 8 years old minimum and have 2 per year. Dont make it an LE do what Stagg jr does and you will find more acclaim.

Bookers is an odd duck and prices are out of hand. This was the bourbon that 10 years ago took my full-proof NCF bourbon virginity and changed how I was bourbon. At that time $75 was a stretch and I could only handle up to 100 proof and afford up to $40. Bookers was a leap of faith from Basil Hayden, KC, then Bakers and finally a Bookers I found on sale for $65 covered in dust. At $65 this was a steal and Stagg Jr was (and still is) nowhere to be seen. Now Bookers is asking $95 and sparsely scattered between releases. The Bookers profile at 6-8 years is fine with me but how KC has moved into 12 and 15 year range for around the same price and proof makes me wonder if Bookers is even relevant anymore. Not as flavorful as 1792 FP, ECBP or JD BP (all $50-70 territory, so also cheaper). Honestly Bookers needs to drop back to that price range or seriously step it up - which could be part of their profile drift. I still love it but it’s on its way to being a classic mustang trying to command the same price as a gently used Shelby GT 350. I will pass on nostalgia knowing what my options are.
