King of Kentucky 16 Year Bourbon (2023 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2024 (edited January 10, 2024)So I reviewed this quickly just out of excitement but i wanted to come back and gove more thoughts on this one because I am just so damned excited about this one. I had no hype going into it i had actually hoped it was mediocre because Ive been so disappointed with so many "high caliber" bottles lately that I was going to use this as my excuse to just stop buying modern day bourbon and just focus exclusively on dusties. So Christmas afternoon I cracked the king of kentucky 16 year bottle 74/90 129.4 proof fully expecting to be underwhelmed and I was so happy that I loved it. The bottles recently that had just completely disappointed me were ECBP C923 and Michters 10 year bourbon 23A. Both were just meh and nothing special. The M10b wanted to be great but whoever proofed it down clearly hates the palate of a whiskey. Im not a proof ***** Im a wild turkey fan. I like lower proof Barrel proofs. The Russell's 2003 is exception whiskey at 89.5 proof. This years king of kentucky has restored my faith that modern bourbon can be amazing. It just sucks it has to be this limited.'It's a bad sign for the future. 40+ years ago you could find a bourbon of this quality for under 30 bucks and there would be 10s of 1000s of bottles of it. Today we get 3800 bottles released in a few states and you have to fork over 1600 bucks to get it but if you ever were to splurge on a whiskey ever do yourself a favor and make it a king of kentucky 16 year. It is the best modern whiskey Ive ever tasted. -

Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon (2023 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 15, 2023 (edited December 28, 2023)It tastes like you had some cheap tobacco and the only thingbyou have to smome it out of is a water bong and you took the water to make coffee and then put it through a filter. Once that process was done you took some well aged Old forester and tempered it with the filtered tobacco coffee bong water. It was a 23 A batch that I disappointingly tried. Not very good on the palate at all. Nose was fantastic. -

Reviewed February 27, 2023 (edited June 23, 2023)Sickeningly prune juice on the palate. It tastes like a hot Texas bourbon was blended with honey a d pureed prunes and maybe a little bit of tobacco spit -
Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson C
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2023 (edited August 5, 2023)I'm gonna be as straight forward and honest about this as I can be and maybe I shouldn't do this. This bourbon is absolutely amazing. It's better than rr13 batch 1 it's better than batch 2. It might now be as good as the 1998, 2002, and probably better than the 2003. So that said it's likely the 3rd but possibly the 2nd best Russell's product ever made. If Eddie Russell's slapped a 2004 on the label and put it in a tater box the secondary would be over 800 bucks and it would be bourbon of the year almost everywhere you looked. For those who that got a Russell's 13 batch 1 for anything other than retail and got this for under 400 that complain about this I am refraining from saying how I really feel about your juvenile judgment. If this isn't your top 3 RR product you've had you don't like Russell's or Wild Turkey. I should keep my mouth shut honestly because you're making secondary on this somewhat reasonable. Whatever Russell's 13 batch 1 goes for on secondary this should easily fetch double. Its absolutely phenomenal. So much so I'm trading my spare Old Fitz 19 to get more of the single rick because it's better. Only thing better this year is the parkers double barreled. But don't listen to me just stay away the single rick is terrible. -

Reviewed December 28, 2022 (edited December 31, 2022)I absolutely loved this bottle. The nose holy shit. It's unlike any bourbon I've ever smelled. The palate is almost perfection. Perfect oak. Sweet upfront but just a tad dry on the finish but not in a bad way Just an exception bourbon. -
