The nose is immediately forward with oak and vanilla nicely balanced, touches of pepper and cinnamon follow with a bit of floral rye spice and bacon fat.
The palate is somewhat chewy with a burst of spice as the rye becomes dominate nicely backed up by the vanilla and oak. As you chew, the flavors reach the corners of the mouth and circle back around again to the front with a nice finish of bacon fat.
The finish is medium long with lingering, tingling spice with fading oak and vanilla that leaves you still chewing on the whiskey.
