Càrn Mòr Celebration of the Cask (Wardhead distilled 1997)
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed February 3, 2026 (edited February 4, 2026)The nose is sweet, with honey and hay presenting immediately, with oak and barley also coming out. It is very full and fresh, featuring an interesting blend. It is a "teaspoon" blend, that while the bulk of it is Glenfiddich, a tiny amount of a secondary Scotch has been added to it. The palate is dry and easy going, filling the mouth with honey, hay and barley. There is a bit of a spice that eventually hits the corners of the mouth with a bit of a chew. Impressive how full this is without being overpowering, considering its age and being cask strength. This is simplicity at its best. The finish is medium long with lingering spice and hay, with the sweetness fading in favor of the stronger notes. This is absolutely brilliant and is going to be painfully missed. -
The nose starts out vibrant, full of earthy rye spice, vanilla, brown sugar and a bit of dark chocolate. It definitely reminds you of Christmas spice. It mellows out into baking spices as it sits, remaining delightful to experience. The palate is slightly dry and chewy, but fills the mouth full of rye and baking spice. A bit of brown sugar and oak are there in the background, but your mouth remains wrapped up in that wonderful spice. It rye, pure and simple. The finish is long and spicey, with that delicious rye lingering and slowly fading. It is quite a unique rye, really not like anything you see that often anymore today.

The nose starts with a mix of charred oak, ripe fruit, earthy rye and all reminds of you a dessert wine. Not much more to say than that, it is very harmonious and gives great anticipation for the first sip. The palate is full and oaky, with a distinct spiciness to it that fills the mouth. In the background, there some creamier notes of brown sugar and fruit, but the main profile here is the uniqueness of the oak. The flavor stays strong as it sits, maintaining the dominant notes of spicey oak. The finish is long and unique, this type of oak is vastly different, full of nuances that give you a different experience. Its almost as if you have qualities of Japanese single malt meeting bourbon.

Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection 23 Year Giant French Oak Barrel
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2026The nose is very rich with sweet, creamy oak, with a touch of toastiness to it. There are touches of brown sugar, smoke, marshmallow and overall some boldness that can't quite be nailed down. It comes off as very oaky, but there are some unique nuances along with it. The palate is full, chewy, slightly dry and with a fruity oakiness. It is wildly smooth and not overpowering considering its age. There is almost like vintage funk, or even reminds you of Chinkapin Oak. It feels like drinking a dessert wine that is oak dominant, along with that kick of creamy toastiness. It was quite unique for a bourbon, exceptionally delicious. The finish is long, a bit spicy and with a heaping of marshmallowy oak lingering in the mouth. It is big and took the point, and perfectly made. -
The nose is full of bold fruit and creamy oak, with notes of barely mixed in. Cinnamon spice cake soon comes out, as does a bit of brown sugar. It is very fruity and creamy, reminding you of the perfect Christmas dessert. The palate is spicy, creamy and sweet, as well as somewhat dry. As a wave of barely and fruit sweep across the mouth, the spice intensifies. It is a lot bolder than you would think, but everything is in amazing balance. Richness comes out as it settles a bit, really bringing home how cakelike this is. The finish is long, creamy, spicy and a bit fruity. It is stunning to drink and experience. The got the combination right with cask strength from new oak. This will be sorely missed.

It almost smells like a slice of cake with a side of dessert wine, absolutely pleasant to experience. The palate is soft and gentle, filling the mouth with wine sweetness and sweet barely. A bit of baking spices warm the mouth up, as cream and oak come in at the end. It doesn't exactly fill all corners of the mouth, but its got a pleasant, subtle richness to it that makes it quite enjoyable to sip on. The finish is medium long and incredibly smooth, leaving the mouth with a creamy mouthfeel and slight hints of cinnamon and wine sweetness fades away. -

The nose starts off somewhat fruity with a mix of creamy oak. It is very bright and has hints of smoke from the Scotch. It doesn't change much as it sits, remaining simple and pleasant. The palate gives vibes of young Beam featuring some fruitiness and a bit of grass. The Scotch, which is rumored to be Ardmore, gives it a slight kick of of smoke and savoriness. Just like the nose, it doesn't change much as it sits. It is dominantly young Beam and isn't bad also not the most exciting. The finish is medium short with everything cascading away together.

The nose starts with a wonderful blend of charred oak, leather, smoke, earthy rye spice and marshmallow. It is quite massive on the nose, giving the promise of incredible flavors. The palate is slightly dry yet fills the mouth with pepper, charred oak and a sharp rye spice. It is quite intense yet delicious, giving such a great rye experience. The barrel proof doesn't just make it hot, it enrichens the flavors. The finish is long and spicey, with an incredible creamy spiciness that lingers, making for a a very memorable experience. For what this is, it is remarkable.

The nose starts off vibrant, with a mix of grass, cream, charred oak and leather. Its a little hard to get notes of rye, it seems as though its too young for the grassy notes to mature. The palate is grassy and doesn't quite fill the mouth, it mostly all stays up front. Some black pepper, charred oak and a bit cream do appear, but this is burdened by its youth. Even more, easy to drink too much of flavor wise. The finish is medium with a lingering grassy, charred oak finish while everything else quickly fades away.
