Now this is how you are supposed to experience Jack Daniel's! Still has the classic banana note on the nose, but not as pronounced as with classic No. 7, and also also surrounded by rich vanilla with a hint of baking spice. The palate is creamy that coats the mouth but also brings spice and dark fruits, with the banana note making a minor appearance in the mid-palate. The finish is quicker than I would like as I want to savor it longer, but is still very pleasant and the whole thing keeps me wanting to go back for more.

I’m sipping this now. Your review reverberates what I’m experiencing. The color and the nose - so much denser than any other entry. Palette defies its 94 proof. As an essentially bourbon aficionado, I can finally get behind a JD entry. Best enjoyed neat with short, prolonged sips. Soooo much more complex and multi-faceted than any 80 proof version. Tons of vanilla enhanced by fruity undertones. Slight cherry and plum notes. A hint of pipe tobacco backed by mint. That overwhelming smoke of #7 is finally absent. Thanks for inspiring me to reply!
The gold label barrel proof will get you closer to the finish this one leaves you wishing for - one of the best $55 I’ve spent on whiskey!
