This is nice pot still Irish. Nose brings sweet apple, bubble yum and gentle malt with some light barrel spice. Its delicate but still has presence. Palate is soft and fruity with the apple joined by ripe pear. There is a rich maltiness alongside spiced wood notes to round it out. Finish carries the palate but drops quickly and tannic notes come in for a slight bitterness. Overall quite pleasant and enjoyable but I prefer Redbreast. RB is more malt driven where this is an orchard. It will come down to personal preference as usual but Green Spot is without a doubt high quality Irish whiskey.......88/100

@Spirited_Away yeah, I’ve not tried it either. A full bottle is hard to find, or expensive (>$150). personally, I liked Green Leoville, Red, Green, Yellow...in that order.
@Scott_E totally agree with you on that. I did a side by side with the yellow and red and didn't notice a huge difference besides said jaminess.
@PBMichiganWolverine I've heard that the blue was the bottom of the spots. Either way I have been trying to find one without any luck. I badly want to do a side by side with the green, yellow, and red I have.
@Ctrexman just read your review of the green. Very fair and concise assessment. I'd definitely be the one who prefers the "orchard" over malt. But since you've turned me on to Jameson Black Barrel I may try RB as well. These Irishes are a great side step to all the bourbons I've focused on over the past several months.
@Scott_E @Ctrexman I’ve not had the Blue yet, but from understanding, that is by far the best of the bunch
@Jose-Massu-Espinel @cascode Agree the Yellow is the next level up. I did really enjoy the Red as well. On the same level as Yellow, IMO, with a jammy profile. Have not had nor attained the Blue.
Yeah my rating so far from top to bottom is Red, Yellow and Green. If Green is a 3.75 for you I reckon yellow is likely to be 4 to 4.25 and red 4.25 to 4.5. Blue i reckon will beat them all!
@Jose-Massu-Espinel I'll second all of that. The Yellow Spot is a different deal to the Green - not just more of the same, qualitatively better. Not managed to get hold of a Blue Spot yet either.
i love the "spots". yellow is great you should try that one. red is very different but good and i am only missing having the blue cask strength one. nice review my friend
