Old Pulteney 12 Year

Full-flavored and rich, but overall quite gentle, approachable and oh-so-sweet.
Honey. Loads of vanilla. Lemon cream. Rich, malty cereal notes, with a silky, creamy mouthfeel. Peaches. Substantial minerality morphs into the much anticipated “characteristic” saltiness but really blends seamlessly with the other flavors.
Definitely a dessert dram, and not a world-beater due to a pretty linear flavor profile, but tasty stuff that can be an exceptional value and has an extra couple of dimensions versus nearly all competition at this price point.

Think I need to have this one again. Wasnt too impressed with the bottle I had but you and other reviewers have convinced me to buy another. Hell, 1901 had it in his death match final
@bigwhitemike I’ve only had the 40% and thought it was good.
@BDanner @cascode @Scott_E was definitely the 40% bottle. Wasn’t otherworldly by any means, but $40 only buys so much in the Scotch world and I was pretty impressed by how much this one offered.
@cascode @bigwhitemike I haven’t seen the older version in NC for quite a while, but the proof would definitely tell you.
@bigwhitemike I am glad you enjoyed. At the end of the day, that is all that matters. OP is still one of my favorites. The older version was bottled at 46%. I believe the newer version is 40%. I haven’t yet had the newer version. @cascode I hope I won’t be too disappointed with the new 12.
@cascode tragically I can’t provide that info. After posting, I scanned reviews by esteemed spirits dignitaries and found I was squarely in @Scott_E’s recommended usage as a summer beach house sipper, so not only may my review be biased in such a pleasant atmosphere, but the remainder of the bottle is at my aunt’s oceanside condo. Either way, it was newly purchased about a week ago from the North Carolina government-run store, so I’d hazard it’s a pretty recent batch.
What is the date on the botle? It should be next to the batch code. This sounds better than when I tried it last, which was the initial release in the new livery.
