Nearly indistinguishable from the thousand other honey-and-vanilla whiskies out there without side-by-side comparison. It's a lovely dram, but success comes from standing out, not fitting in.

Davie is right: Dalwhinnie has a very interesting flavor profile. The honey notes are quite complex, if you spend some time with it. In my opinion, this malt stands out - it's just not so obvious.
Thanks for your comment, good insight. I guess I'm more into the fruity sweetness from a port or sherry finish. Or perhaps my palate wasn't developed enough to pick up the subtleties you mention. I'll be sure to give it another go.
Very interesting note... I love Dalwhinnie for its almost overly sweet vanilla cream frosting and touch of specifically orange blossom honey, along with distant wisps of smoke. It's a unique dram, in my opinion, but in a very subtle way.
