Tequila Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico

What a wonderful expression of Patron tequila añejo! Not exactly what one would expect of a tequila, it reminds me of The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak Cask. On the nose I get a creamy sherry and sweet cooked agave aroma with a light nutty note. The palate I get a nuttiness and a creamy fruity sherry (almost a sherry bomb) with cooked sweet agave and a luscious, creamy mouthfeel. I do pick up caramel and baking spice along with very little oak. The finish is medium to long with more cream sherry and nutty flavors. Although the sherry may be a bit overwhelming, the agave is always present and perfectly layered throughout from beginning to end. One of the most sip-able of sipping tequilas I’ve had. Pairs wonderfully with an aged cigar. I found this online at theliquorbook.com for $75
