NOSE
Cherry-heavy dried dark fruit, dried corn, oak, candied nuts, citrus peels, milk chocolate, baking spice, walnuts and caramel with a hint of menthol.
This aroma is outstanding. I’ve only had one or two other George Dickel’s with this much sticky dried dark fruit before… wow.
PALATE
Butterscotch, oak, cherry-heavy dried dark fruit, dried corn, candied walnuts, black tea, milk chocolate, baking spice, brown sugar and a bit of citrus and leather.
The George Dickel Bottled In Bond 13 Years’ palate bows to the aroma, but only slightly. This profile is why people love Dickel.

@ContemplativeFox I seem to recall their last 11y BiB being fruit forward as well but will have go try it again. As far as the price hikes by Barrel I had always blamed dwindling stocks of MGP but those looking for an age statement to move source whiskey are all running to Tullahoma these days. A friends father did their books for a while after the briefly shut down and at the time they were sitting in barrels going up to +30y - that, in its raw form could be astoundingly good or bad but I volunteer if it ever surfaces.
Interesting that there was so much fruit in this one. Definitely not what I normally expect from Dickel.
@PBMichiganWolverine I'm sure there's no justification for such a large discrepancy. I paid $80 for a 15 YO from Resilient and it's significantly better than my 15 YO from Dickel itself, but much beyond that price seems hard to justify.
This is what’s a bit confusing …one get Dickel 13 BiB or the Dickel 15 for well under $60. And then there’s a bunch of 15yr independent bottlings ( Barrell, Blue Run, etc) that are close to $300. What justifies that 3-4x price?
