My first ever self purchase Islay single malt. My gosh that's a totally new sensation to me (the bourbon and glen drinker). Totally did not expect it to be SO different to whiskeys from the Speyside or USA .
Heck, even compared to Jura, the Laphroaig is still way more crazy smelling! All I could pick up is smoke , char, ash and wood on the nose. Just like when lingering around a BBQ stand.
Not sure if I liked it more than other liquors. But definitely a new experience in my alcohol tasting journey .

So many Laphroaig hit me with the plastic bandaid smell. Weird to say I love it but I do. Welcome to Islay.
Welcome to the Islay waters. It can be scary at first but after settling in its hard to leave
