Color: deep copper
Nose: Toasted marshmallows, sweet vanilla, lightly toasted oak, and corn are topped with light fruit. The additional aging in a second barrel seems to have imparted less heavy wood and oak pulling forward the sweeter flavors. Comparably, Double Oaked presents a surprisingly more diverse and enjoyable experience. The second barrel is Toasted 5 times longer than the first but charred 1/5 of the time.
Pallet: Oak and sweet vanilla are the dominant flavors here. light hints of leather, caramel, and dried dark fruits. A deeper sweetness than the original bourbon. The vanilla plays nicely with the woody oak flavors. Double Oaked manages to come across as richer and heavier in comparison to standard Woodford Reserve.
Finish: The mildest of heat appears with dried fruits, rye spices, chocolates, and a leather sense. The oak leather and white pepper heat hangs on for a decent amount of time.
