Ok so still working through the Covid nose but I get heavy char and oak with a hint of Covid. With I could explain that better but it’s a weird smell. The palate on this is thin for the age. It is very oaky and almost sour on the back end. I expected more out of this honestly. This is a 2018 bottle that has been open about six months and is half full. The finish is pretty lengthy but kind of goes toward the sour oak note. I have had other years and remember liking them more. I have had many better high end bourbons. It’s a good proof and I don’t think it would benefit from higher proofing. I think the 12 year barrel proof is just the sweet spot for EC. I wouldn’t mind trying say a 15 year from them at say 98 proof. Overall it’s a good bourbon that is over oaked. It’s not bad it’s just not spectacular in any way. It’s a bucket list check mark for me and another cork to add to the collection. Cheers!
