This is one overrated scotch due to the household name. I had a friend many years ago that loved this dram. Maybe the quality has dropped over the years. I never tried it until recently when I was on vacation in Montana with my family. I bought it thinking it would be approach able for my siblings and Dad who occasionally have a whiskey. All of us were blown away by how bad it was. Getting to flavor profile it has the sherry influence and has that raisin/plum taste. What I can't get past is the over done bitter oak and sulphur taste. The sulfur ruins the flavor for me. Very simple dram as far as complexity. You get the sweet honey, raisins, caramel, but it's overshadowed by the sulfur and bitter oak. There are so many better sherry cask scotches at a lower price. I have bottles of Glendronach 12 and Dalmore 12 that I drink over this any day of the week. I still have a little bit left in my bottle and can't wait for it to be gone. I won't be buying this again any time soon. I would recommend you steer clear of this bottle as there are so many better expressions and higher quality sherry cask scotches available today. Macallan is riding the coat tails of their famous name. I know they produce other quality bottles, but this is not it. Very disappointing.
