Redbreast 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed
January 31, 2022 (edited March 20, 2022)
Batch B1/21, 56.3% ABV
Nose: shortbread, orange, and vanilla
Palate: shortbread cookie, butter, metallic/copper, dried figs, orange zest, vanilla ice cream, ginger, baking spice, and oakiness. Bold and rich, and only a little hot
Finish: dried fruit, nutty, spices, and some bitter oak
With water added: softer and less hot for sure, more shortbread and butter and gets sweeter overall.
Overall: big, rich and super tasty! Big classic pot still notes, way more baking spice than I was expecting (even gingerbread-like), and complex. I always like the 12 and 15 years, but this is an upgrade in my opinion.
