An excellent dessert sipper! More elegant than the 12 but not as creamy as the 18 year.
The nose is sweet with the typical but muted orange peel. There is a sense of standing in a vineyard with very light hues of fresh cut hay.
The palate starts sweet with hints of honey, over ripe pear and sweat wine.
The finish is slightly salty with light cream. Not a super long finish but great!

@JWHayter Both are winners. Easy to find, affordable, enjoyable, complex enough to be interesting. Both are are soft, sweet, fruity whiskies. I think the Balvenie has a bigger note of honey and is better fresh. GM QR has more of the plum note and is better with some oxygen and time to open up.
@JWHayter unfortunately, I haven't tried that one. I thought the Quinta Ruban was a great value at under 40 (at least around here) and was liked well by friends who were scotch drinkers and others who were more of American whiskey drinkers.
@soonershrink haven’t tried the port wood. How does it stack up to the Belviene port wood?
@soonershrink well it was sweet and salty😂
I liked this one, but preferred the port finished 14 year.
The sweat note sounds interesting 🤣
