The nose starts a little ethanol forward with caramel, floral furniture polish and baking spices The palate is peppery with an almost high proof scotch like flavor. Not a very complex palate The finish had a funky rubber hose and plastic like flavor mid toung but a nice long finish. Its not bad for the price but not going to be avdaily sipper21.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 15, 2024 (edited April 16, 2024)The nose went through multiple changes starting with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel. After sitting, a nice floral note became abundant then the oaky, leather tannins and tobacco rounded out the nose after 30-45 min The palette was very similar to the nose with a journey to match. The first sip was spicy as expected from the proof. When chewing for a while, a slight mineral influence appeared on the back of the tongue The finish was all tobacco, tannins and oak. Evidence that this particular bottling had some decent age. This pour was while at Acre 41 in the Otis Hotel while visiting Austin28.0 USD per PourAcre 41 -
Still Austin Cask Strength Rye Whiskey
Rye — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 10, 2023 (edited April 10, 2024)The nose was very pleasant given the high proof. Apricot, caramel and vanilla lead towards a hint of pine The palate is warm and buttery with an instant hit of vanilla and banana bread. A slightly tart and pine inflence as you chew with some sassafras notes as well The finish is fairly long with more than enough pepper to let you experience Texas Rye! Overall, very happy with this 100% Rye!64.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Aberlour A'bunadh
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 29, 2023 (edited September 6, 2023)Like eating a high end holiday fruitcake soaked in sherry instead of rum and the fruits have been roasted before baking! The nose and palate are perfectly aligned with slight banana and overly ripened stone fruits. There is a soft wood note that shows decent age as well. The finish is long and shows a younger age until you add a few drops of water and then the age comes storming back. As does a sweet, fruitful experience! Not a true sherry bomb but it does allow the infuence to be known. I doubt this bottle will make it through the coming holiday season so i’ll be sure to grab another one very soon!89.99 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 25, 2023 (edited November 4, 2023)A nutty, caramel and banana extravaganza! The nose right from the neck pour was a little disappointing. But once it sits in the glass for about 20 minutes, it really opens up. The typical Jack Daniels nutty banana starts out but as if on steroids. The nut on the nose is pecans. Buttery caramel show up as well and after 30-45 minutes turns into butterscotch and vanilla. The palate is very buttery with a dense mouth feel. Pepper hits very early as well and leads to walnuts, caramel and vanilla. I didn’t detect any fruityness at all. The palate was all sweet and savory. The finish was decently long with a bit of that Jack Daniels heart burn. Not a typical whiskey “hug”. All in all, a good to great experience for a high proofer that will come close to standing in for Stagg/Stagg Jr at a much better price!59.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
The nose started off a little ethanol forward with whiffs of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla. As it sat in the glass, a grassy oak note appeared The palate showed the low proof with very little of the ethanol from the nose. The mouthfeel was a little thin but pleasnt enough to make this an easy bourbon to enjoy neat for new comers. The butterscotch, vanilla and hints of sweet caramel were there but not enough saltyness to make these flavors really pop The finish was short and literally sweet. You would expect a ten year bourbon to have more oak influence but I believe the low proof keeps leather and tannins at bay. A somewhat simple finish and overall experience given the overhyped nature of this bourbon49.99 USD per Bottle

Blackened Cask Strength Limited Edition (Total Wine)
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed August 11, 2023 (edited November 7, 2023)The nose starts with strong ethanol transitioning to butter, baking spices and leather. The palate follows pretty close to tye nose with a decent mouth feel. The finish is fair to long with lots of oaky tannins and slight bitterness. Finish is stronger than the proof -
The nose is roasted pear and apple. The peat is very subtle compared to an islay but its there. Funky old cheese is also present. The salty, brine shows up nicely as well. The palate is close to the nose. The mouthfeel is a little thin when compared to Springbank but not compared to most youngish Scotch. There is some smoke and tart candy with wisps of malt and that funky cheese. The finish is medium with some gin like herbs showing up. A very different whisky experience that i enjoyed

The nose is rich with vanilla, caramel, burnt coffee and toasted pipe tobacco. The palate hits with a buttery and oily mouthfeel. Pepper and cinnamon start a journey that moves into other baking spices, toffee and a bit of a bitterness on the sides of the tongue. The finish lasts forever with tannins, tobacco and burnt sugar. Its a strong, in your face rye thats loads of fun to experience

Single *Batch Nation North British 14
Single Grain — lowland, Scotland
Reviewed June 14, 2023 (edited August 29, 2023)The nose starts with over ripened tomato, stone fruits and campfire. There is a mineral/vegetal note similar to mezcal The palate instantly says mezcal (which I’ve never seen in a whisky) with a warm and smokey hit that transitions to a peppered rye. Dark red bbq burnt ends help round out the palate. The finish is fairly long with a dry, peppered beef jerky This isn’t your typical scotch127.0 USD per Bottle
