This impressed me much more than expected. Eminently drinkable upon the first pour, which I don’t expect anymore, even from premium vintages. No water needed. A familiar nose, but part of what those who started on Dewar’s love and remember will rush your tasting. Citrus, apples, some spice, and a reserved but warm palate with a full and oily presence greet you. Despite the 92 proof, this could easily be a friendly and comfortable weeknight dram, or something special to start the weekend. You’re left with a quick finish and no strong lingering flavors, but perhaps the sudden desire to try it all over again. Very impressed by a whiskey as young as this in a market whose products trend younger every year.
